Countless hours in real stores and classrooms.
We started where the work happens. Long before the product had a name, we sat in DECA stores and classrooms with advisors and students, watching lunch rushes, stock counts, and cash-drawer math, and listening for the pain points worth solving. The bar we set was an exceptional experience for the people actually running the store.
Real high school DECA classes became our proving ground. Students worked through multiple early prototypes and iterations with us, told us what felt fast and what felt clunky, and shaped the point of sale and HomeRoom pages with direct feedback.
One student was especially passionate about split payments and how they should work. We carried his bar with us the whole way, and our final version exceeded his expectations. Watching the first split payment process in a real store was a happy moment for the whole team.
